Notes & Reflections fr |
I know I am not alone in having been been blessed, or cursed (depending on some perspectives) with an absolutely hopeless and incurable passion for horses. These incredible creatures have been filling my dreams and stretching my imagination since I was barely here. They have been my best friends, my teachers, my shrinks, and the one thing that has run constant through the twists and turns of my life. When I was a little kid my grandfather came and got me one day and took me for a drive to see a local horse show. To my young eyes the scene there was one of sheer elegance and total magic. and I was hooked big time. Even now, when I am riding or when I am deciding who to breed with which stallion, in the back of my head is running that same childhood image and I think of how what I am doing is constantly preparing for some similar scene in the future. |
To me the blank slate/ wide open potential of breeding and producing riding
horses is the allure. I love riding and working with the young horses. They
are all so wonderfully different. I have never owned nor have I seen
the perfect horse, except maybe in fairy tale books. My aim is to breed horses
as close to perfect as possible, realizing that even then perfection is subjective
to the beholder, or to whoever is sitting in the saddle. As a good friend
and neighbor once told me, "A good horse should fill your eye and just make
you want to ride him." My horses do this for me. I take pride in the fact that I have had such a high success rate with my offspring, whether with in hand showing at the breed inspections or with dressage and eventing competition. I also take great satisfaction in seeing the horses I have bred, and/or trained now being ridden and worked by their new owners. Their successes are further affirmation of my passion. I hope you enjoy the web page and I welcome input and news of Windhover horses . Please feel free contact me soon so I can show you my horses in person. Margaret |
