2008,  so far....

Cupcake and Cistine, the Flemmingh sisters from 07 have grown into silly yearlings, teenagers, inquisative,  friendly but easy to deal with, and very fun to watch cavorting in the field. They are pretty similar in attitude and behavior but are almost twins in their appearance.  Currently they are in that puppy stage where they are cute and playful and have no idea of what is ahead and don't care. What a marvelous place to be.
Spring brought a couple of ownership changes and relocations of a few of the horses here. Lisa Thompson-Smith bought Avalon, Joline's 3yr old daughter by Juventus and took her off to her new farm in Birmigham.  Rebecca Cleveland, also of Birmingham area, purchased Wizard, Joline's first Windhover foal, and has high hopes for him making FEI level just as soon as possible. Joline has now become a permanent resident on the farm with my purchase of her from Lisa.
There always is a serious lump in my throat when I watch the young horses I have bred, raised, and spent so many hours working  with , quietly load up into trailers bound for their new homes. Avalon and Wizard are special horses having gotten that undefinable something extra  from Joline. I miss their funny personalities  but  I am sure that these two horses will have the best of care and be well loved. My reward for breeding and then selling  these animals is hearing the successes and experiences of all my babies with their new owners.
I have recently heard news from dr jan greve from holland that joline's foal by contango, barishnikov, is entered for next year's KWPN pre-selection for the stallion testing. This is very exciting news and fingers are crossed for his success.
Jeff came back in Oct. once again for 4 days of clinic. Weather was mostly nice and everyone came away with much to ponder and work on. It was nice for me to have two of my past babies here with their owners. Virgil, Robijn's foal by Juventus,  a young stallion now, was very well developed and gorgeous with movement like the classic Rolls Royce. Wizard made his return with new owner Rebecca Cleveland.  Looking great as always, Wizard was a bit taller and still the wonderful character that left here in April. He is also a pretty darn fine mover. So that was fun to get to see them, and to visit with all the regular riders that grace this clinic and see the progress they have made since last time.

     'til later....happy trails
