Windhover Farm is a privately owned and operated farm, founded in the early 1980's by Margaret Dauber  to breed and develop versatile young warmblood horses.   Careful thought and study has been given to the choices for the crosses of the farm's broodmares to various stallions based on their conformation, character, and movement. These efforts have been rewarded with numerous top honors at national breed inspections and Windhover enjoys having built a reputation for turning out  excellent young horses who have the what it takes and who are out there winning.

Good horses do not happen by accident.

Whatever the size operation or the location, the  production of a quality  riding horse requires many things to work well. It takes an enormous effort  and daily dedication, a thorough working knowledge about what the qualities are that make up a good  riding horse and why,  a lot of time and patience, and then some really good luck.
Critical to the success of any breeder is first,  a good mare with  good genetics  to work with.  It is impossible to expect satisfactory offspring from breeding based on emotional attachment to a less than quality mare. Because there is a much greater risk to breeding in smaller quantities, success so depends on careful choices based on a strong sense of the quality of horses.  This is also critical for the betterment of the breeds.
Windhover  purposely maintains a small group of carefully selected KWPN/Dutch mares and their foals. These horses spend most of their time outside in paddocks  with plenty of room for exercise and socializing. The young ones are handled thoroughly early on to create positive learning  patterns, and their diets and general health are carefully monitored.
